Child Protection & Safeguarding Policy
Every child in our care has the right to be safe, respected and protected from harm. This policy governs how staff, volunteers and partners interact with children across all Prayista Foundation programs.
1. Screening & Training
All staff, volunteers and partners undergo background checks and mandatory safeguarding training before any contact with children.
2. Code of Conduct
Strict guidelines govern appropriate interaction, communication, photography and one-on-one contact with children at all times.
3. Reporting Procedures
Any concern, disclosure or suspicion of abuse is reported immediately to our Safeguarding Officer and escalated per Ugandan child protection law.
4. Sponsorship Correspondence
All letters between sponsors and children are reviewed by field staff before being shared, in both directions.
5. Continuous Monitoring
Field officers conduct regular, unannounced visits to program sites to monitor child wellbeing and safety.
